Why Not Win Wednesday and FabScraps!!!!

Well it is humpy hump day again and another chance to win a great prize!!! FabScraps has provided this great package this week! The papers are Fab-u-lous! 

I made the following from my FabScrap stash, I love it so much it maybe hard to give away to my niece! 

Here is how I created this project:

1. I choose a background pattern paper and cut it to the size of the frame.

2. I cut out a medallion on my Silhouete as the next layer from a co-ordinating pattern paper. I inked the edges with ClearSnap ink. I curled the edges of paper with my fingers to give it dimension.

3. I took the FabScrap chipboard (Circle Swirl Frame) and sprayed it with Smooch, then I lightly dabbed on top some Donna Salazar Mixed Media ink to tone the colour down a bit and make a stippled effect. Finally I inked the edges with ColorBox ink.

4. I glued the three layers together and added a small photo to the center.

5. I embellished the whole frame with bling, flowers and punched Butterfly and ferns.

Christmas Love Campaign

I am posting today to tell you about the Christmas Love Campaign that Susan Weckesser hosts every year.  She has done this for the past 6 years.  I have copied her original post from her blog below because she says it so well and it is nice to here straight from the hourses mouth (LOL) her thoughts around this movement.  She is an inspiration, I will be following along and posting as well what I am working on stay tuned and play along, lots of great prizes and inspiration to be had.  I hope you join along too and share the love! 2012 Christmas Love Campaign….. spreading love.

Guess what starts today? Yup, the Christmas Love Campaign….. the 4th Christmas Love Campaign! How COOL is that!!!

My heart is so full of emotions as I type this because this world is so full of so many challenges and trials, BELIEVE me, I really do understand! I try to post uplifting thoughts & words all the time because I know we need that in are life, but the world’s challenges weigh heavy on my heart too just like all of us!

Last week as Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast of the United States there was a couple days where I didn’t know if my son, who is serving a two year mission over there, was safe. This had come just after learning that my mother, who is an amputee is now facing the double amputee of her legs. I felt let I had reached the limits….. of whatever limits I am suppose to humanly have! Not to mention my husband, has never been that understanding and compassionate, or huggy, and so when I turned to him in crisis mode last week I just got a very clinical & emergency services answer: ‘He chances are good.” Yes ladies, being married to a fireman really isn’t that hot! lol

My son took this picture of a basket ball court. they were digging out the sand around it because of the homes that need access. 500+ missionaries have been helping dig out areas, cut up downed trees, clean up basements, and help people out.

At the current time Christopher is right on the waters edge and in my heart I knew he must be safe, but as the media images filled our home my fear began to build. I was so happy to get a phone call from another mother one night telling me that the missionaries had made it inland and she had taken them out for a warm meal. She was calling mothers to let them know that their sons were safe.

I will always be grateful to that lady for reaching out to me, a perfect stranger!

This world can be so hard….. Each day we are faced by natural disasters, family crisis, health issues, monetary problems, and day to day things that just seem to pop up. But, we can ease each other burdens just by reaching out and doing one little kind thing. It always amazes me that when someone seems to be having a horrible day, like that cashier at the grocery store, if you just take a second and smile at that person, and tell them to have a nice day…. well, most of the time, they won’t seem so grumpy anymore!

What I have been working on...

A few recent layouts

Here is my take on the Sketchy Challenge for September from Canadian Scrapbooker.  Thanks Sue for the great sketch.  This is the seashore along the south west side of Bonaire, down by the slave huts.  One of my favourite places on earth!

September Sketchy

I can't believe it is September already...sad that the summer has flown by, sad that it means winter is on it's way.  It is a beautiful day today and it isn't over yet!  Going to go apple picking today and spend time with the family.  But first it is time to post this months Sketchy Challenge at Canadian Scrapbooker!  It was done buy Sue Sykes, I will be posting the outcome sometime this long weekend.  For now enjoy and play along!

Here are two more from lately, one more for The Scrapping Nook and the other for Canadian Scrapbooker Sketchy challenges.  Snickers is my feral cat that we have had for 9 years, to this day she only trusts me when I am in the dark lying down!
